Building on our extensive experience in irrigation engineering across the Intermountain West, J-U-B Engineers, Inc. is proud to make great strides in Eastern Idaho’s irrigation development. J-U-B’s teams in Pocatello and Idaho Falls have been instrumental in these developments. Their efforts have resulted in several exciting project wins and advancements over the past year:
Big Lost River Irrigation District, Mackay, ID
A comprehensive PL-566 project to modernize the Big Lost River watershed’s irrigation delivery system. This project includes canal lining, piping, aquifer recharge basins, and new diversion structures to enhance water management and sustainability.
Badger Creek Fish Screen and Pipeline, Tetonia, ID
Partnering with Friends of the Teton River, this project focuses on the preliminary design of a new irrigation fish screen diversion structure and delivery pipeline. The initiative aims to reduce canal seepage losses while improving in-stream flows to support the Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout population.
Canal Capacity Improvements and Radial Gate Structure Redesign, Firth, ID
In collaboration with the Snake River Valley Irrigation District, J-U-B developed a capital improvements plan for an 11-mile canal system, including over 50 hydraulic structures. The project incorporated hydraulic modeling, field surveys, and flow measurements to identify capacity upgrades and replace aging infrastructure, such as a 400+ cfs radial gate splitter structure.
Siphon Bridge Replacement Feasibility Study, Dayton, ID
This study for Twin Lakes Canal Company evaluated alternatives to replace a deteriorating pipe bridge and a 300 cfs steel irrigation siphon.
High Capacity Well Field, Blackfoot, ID
J-U-B conducted a planning study for the Bingham Groundwater District to evaluate the feasibility of installing high-capacity groundwater wells with a combined output of up to 30 cfs. This project supports water rights mitigation and sustainable resource management.
Beaver Creek Aquatic Organism Passage, Huntsville, UT
In partnership with Trout Unlimited and RiverRestoration.org, J-U-B designed a fish-friendly irrigation system featuring a diversion structure, conveyance pipeline, stream crossing, and a check structure with fish passage capabilities.
J-U-B’s design teams are dedicated to creating innovative, sustainable solutions that balance the needs of diverse stakeholders, including groundwater users, surface water users, municipalities, and conservation groups.
With more exciting projects on the horizon, J-U-B remains committed to delivering impactful solutions that support Eastern Idaho’s thriving irrigation market. Stay tuned for further updates!
