Breaking Ground: Hexon Road Bridge Replacement Project to Enhance Safety and Connectivity in Canyon County, Idaho

J-U-B Engineers, Inc. is proud to announce the groundbreaking of the Hexon Road Bridge Replacement Project, a critical infrastructure improvement in Canyon County, Idaho. This project will enhance safety, connectivity, and functionality for the local community and industries that rely on this essential crossing over the Boise River.

The existing Hexon Road Bridge has long been a challenge due to its narrow design and load restrictions, forcing many heavy trucks and agricultural vehicles to take alternate routes. These detours, while necessary, impact efficiency and safety for farmers, trucking operations, emergency services, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • Wider Bridge: A new, wider bridge will be constructed, including new supports for added strength and durability. The bridge will be approximately 36 feet wider, accommodating traffic needs while improving safety for all users.
  • Erosion Protection: Special measures, like placing riprap, will be added around the new supports to prevent erosion and ensure the bridge’s stability over time.
  • Minimizing River Impacts: Construction in the river will only happen during low-flow seasons to avoid disrupting the environment, particularly during spring runoff when water levels are high.
  • Community-Centered Construction: While Hexon Road will be temporarily closed during construction, a three-mile detour via Highway 18 will maintain traffic flow and reduce disruptions.

The bridge replacement is vital for improving accessibility and safety in a region heavily reliant on efficient transport routes for agriculture, trucking, and emergency services.

J-U-B is excited to see this project come to life and look forward to the positive impact it will have on the community. Stay connected for updates as we continue to Help Each Other Create Better Communities through thoughtful engineering solutions.
