Vince Loftus Assumes Board Chair of ACEC Washington

Vince Loftus, J-U-B’s Corporate Land Development Team Lead, has taken on an impressive new leadership role as Board Chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington (ACEC Washington). This marks Vince’s fifth year on the board, following successful terms as Vice Chair and Chair-Elect.

Vince started as an intern in our Kennewick office in the summer of 1985, and has served on J-U-B’s Board of Directors since 2010.

What is ACEC?

The ACEC serves as the business voice for America’s engineering and design services industry. Representing a nationwide network of professionals, ACEC includes 51 state and regional Member Organizations, including ACEC Washington.

ACEC plays a vital role in strengthening the consulting industry by offering opportunities for networking, education, training, and leadership development. The organization also advocates for the industry at all levels of government—federal, state, county, and city—and conducts research to support its members.

As the professional trade association for consulting engineering firms, land surveyors, planners, and scientists across all disciplines, ACEC represents firms that design essential public and private projects. From roads and bridges to schools, office buildings, infrastructure, and environmental cleanup efforts, ACEC member firms shape the built environment and improve the communities they serve.

By fostering innovation, collaboration, and advocacy, ACEC ensures that the consulting industry continues to thrive and contribute to the nation’s progress.

As Board Chair, Vince has set his sights on ensuring the organization remains strong and sustainable.

“My priority is to strengthen the sustainability of ACEC Washington, recognizing that many of our long-time members—who are actively attending events, participating on committees, and filling leadership roles—are transitioning into retirement. This trend is also being impacted by combination of firms through mergers and acquisitions, heavy workloads during these busy times in our industry, and a reluctance among younger generations to participate in in-person activities outside of normal work hours.

I’m emphasizing the importance of outreach to new members, encouraging retiring members to identify successors within their organizations, and increasing membership and participation from eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Currently, I am the only ACEC Washington Board member representing the east side of the state.”

Vince credits his involvement in ACEC as an integral part of his professional growth.

“Participation in ACEC has been a key way for me to develop my leadership and business skills while gaining valuable insight into issues affecting firms across our industry. I highly recommend attending ACEC events and getting involved if it feels like the right fit for you.”
