The Langdon Group is a conflict resolution and public involvement firm.  Our current work centers on collaborative processes and strategic communications in transportation, public lands, water, natural resources, environmental public policy, organizational development and infrastructure issues. We primarily work in the western United States. The range of clients we work with includes federal and state agencies, cities and local municipalities, Native American tribes, and private industry. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. (a regional engineering firm), we support many planning and engineering projects. We are currently looking to fill one position of Project Coordinator or Associate in the Kaysville, Utah office. The ideal candidate will work primarily out of the Kaysville office, but will also spend some time working out of the Salt Lake City office. Project Coordinator Position: The Project Coordinator position provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career practitioner with a passion for collaborative work to further develop these skills.  This position requires a reliable individual to work within a team environment on a wide variety of strategic communication projects. The position requires an individual of high character who is responsible, self-motivated, hardworking, comfortable with ambiguity, innovative, and who has the initiative to work well on their own and in a team atmosphere. This person must be driven, curious and ambitious. The ideal candidate will be able to facilitate successful project delivery by monitoring, providing strategic input and executing schedule and quality deliverables.  Additional responsibilities include: supporting project managers with their duties, drafting detailed meeting minutes, writing/editing/producing project materials, and successfully planning, coordinating, and executing public events. Associate Position: The Project Associate position provides an excellent opportunity for an early to mid-career practitioner with a passion for collaborative work to further develop these skills. They will have ample opportunity to work on a wide variety of complex and diverse projects. The position is highly dynamic and requires an individual that is comfortable with ambiguity, is innovative, and has the initiative to work well on their own and in a team atmosphere. Being a self-starter is critical. The ideal candidate will be able to play a substantive role on projects, facilitate meetings and groups, and assist in the development, strategy and management of projects. This person must be driven, curious and ambitious.  Occasional travel should be expected. This person must be able to perform all the tasks and responsibilities of a Project Coordinator. Qualifications: Project Coordinator Bachelor’s degree in Law, Communication, Public Relations, Public Involvement, Business, Economics, Environment and Public Policy and/or Facilitation /Mediation or a related field is required with relevant course work. Education, training and/or work experience in a communication-related field; public involvement; environment and public policy; and/or facilitation/mediation. A strong background in the use of different types of media (includes database management and visual communications). Demonstrated interest in collaborative problem solving, design thinking, dispute systems design, and process design. Ability to look at a project as a whole and perform basic public involvement tasks with some oversight. Ability to innovate and bring new ideas to the project design process. Meeting facilitation and/or event planning experience. Excellent organizational, written, verbal and administrative skills. Computer and related software skills (Microsoft Suite, etc.). Basic skills in design programs (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and familiarity with Access databases. Video production and social media experience a plus. Associate All qualifications of a Project Coordinator. 3 years of experience in a related field and/or advanced degree. Ability to effectively market his or her own skills and abilities internally and externally. Ability to monitor and adhere to project schedules, scopes, budgets and process strategies. Supervision of a small group of team members on tasks assigned, and quality control. Business development support and proposal preparation experience is a plus. The primary duties of the Senior Environmental Planner/NEPA Specialist position include serving as the environmental lead various stages of project development including environmental planning, NEPA documentation and permitting. Well-developed technical writing and project management skills are a must. While serving the environmental lead on a variety of NEPA documentation and environmental projects, this position may also be responsible for data collection, agency coordination, quality control, and preparing environmental permit applications, impact analyses and technical reports related to NEPA compliance and regulatory permitting. While applying project management skills and technical knowledge, this position: Prepares and assists in the development of environmental documents, resource analyses and permit applications Collects, interprets and analyzes data Prepares technical memorandums and reports Assists in preparation for, and participation in, public information meetings and hearings. Requires excellent verbal, technical writing, project management, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner, and to work collaboratively in a team-focused atmosphere Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, Environmental Resource Management, Biology, or Botany 15 years related experience preferred Understanding of Federal, State and local environmental regulations and processes with agencies such as FAA, NRCS, USACE, EPA, USFWS, NOAA, and FHWA Strong oral and written communication skills A working knowledge of the NEPA process, and environmental document preparation Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, make sound decisions, lead projects to completion and meet deadlines Well organized team player, able to coordinate with project team members to ensure that quality work is completed in a timely manner Salary Range: Salary range starts at $92,000 plus / Negotiable by experience.
